Licencing
Derivity Analytics requires a valid licence. A licence is issued on a user basis, although licences for a trial period or for testing purposes are available. There are two different licencing schemes:
Key-Based Licence
The application generates a base key: this is used to generate a licence key that allows the application to run. To obtain a licence key contact Derivity quoting:
- the Derivity Analytics user's name;
- a contact phone number or email address;
- the software version number (this is shown on the startup splash screen, and in the About box);
- the Base Key displayed in the licence dialog box during startup;
- whether the key is for a trial period.
The new key is set by entering it in the licence dialog box.
File-Based Licence
With this scheme the licence information is taken from a file provided by Derivity. This file may contain licences for several users and can be located on a network or internet file-server.
- Administration is simplified: instead of having to re-enter licence keys on each user's computer, a single file is all that needs to be updated.
- Multiple licence file locations may be defined so that, for example, a licence file can be placed on a network server, along with a second backup file located on another server. Also, the local key-based licence will always be available.
Please note that file-based licences were introduced in Version 5.0.4, an upgrade is required if you are using an earlier version.
To obtain a licence file the system administrator should contact Derivity with a list of the Windows NT Domain and User names for the users of Derivity Analytics.
Operation
The licence prompt is displayed:
- when the application is started without a valid licence;
- if the licence is due to expire within a countdown period (30 days);
- by selecting from the Main window menu.
The details shown are for the first valid licence found as defined in the licence source configuration.
Licence Source Configuration
To locate a new licence file press the Advanced button on the licence dialog to show the licence source configuration.
When opened the selected licence source is the source currently in use.
The licence source files are listed in the order that they will be checked. This order may be adjusted using the Priority buttons. The list may be edited via the Add and Remove buttons. The local key-based licence is also displayed.
