Microsoft Data Access Components

Derivity Analytics requires the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) version 2.0 or above to be installed, specifically the Jet 4.0 components. These files are usually present on a Windows NT4 SP6 / 2000 / XP system.

Possible Problem

If the correct MDAC files are not present on the computer then the error Database Connection Failed may occur when Derivity Analytics is started.

There are two main reasons for this:

• MDAC has not been installed. Derivity Analytics requires version 2.1 or higher;
• MDAC Version 2.6 or later is present, but the Jet 4.0 Service Pack 3 has not been installed.

Obtaining MDAC

• If installing from CD-ROM then the MDAC installation program is included on the installation CD in the Tools subdirectory.
• If installing from a downloaded installation the necessary MDAC files need to be downloaded from Microsoft.

Installing MDAC

1. Run the file mdac_typ.exe and accept the default selections.
2. When the MDAC installation has completed you will be asked to reboot the computer. When you reboot you should log in using the same ID as you were using when you installed MDAC to complete the installation.
