Customizing FX Quick View Displays - 2

Sample Display: Month End

A custom display to show month-end prices The scenario presented here is that we wish to show forward rates to the end of the month for a range of currencies. As all requests will be out of spot we can hide the dates colums, as this is repeated redundant information. Also, we will use the default source, so the sourcing columns can also be hiden.

To format the display

  1. Enter CLEAR= to clear any existing rates.
  2. Enter TYPECOL=NO to hide the rate type column.
  3. Enter DATECOL=NO to hide the date columns.
  4. Enter DAYSCOL=NO to hide the days column.
  5. Enter SOURCECOL=NO to hide the source columns.
  6. Enter ROWS=10 to set the number of rows; here we wish to view 10 currency pairs.
  7. Enter GBP;EUR;CHF;... for the required currency pairs. Note that this will request Spot rates, not forwards, but this is easily changed in the next step...
  8. ... by entering TYPE=F to change the requests to forwards. However, this shows Error as no period has been specified, again this is easily fixed...
  9. ...enter DATE=30APR to provide a valid far date.

The display should now be complete, having resized it to the desired proportions.

Adjusting the display

The display as defined is fine, but what happens when the date reaches the end of April? The date can be easily rolled to the next month by entering DATE=31MAY : all rows should now be requesting forwards to the end of May.

Similarly, if we need to quote outright prices enter TYPE=O to change all rates to outrights.
