Publishing Rates

Publishing Table example

Publishing RateShare data involves two Symbol Tables : a source table filled with the values that will be shared, and a publish table that contains the formulae to publish the values; this indicates the last published value from the sheet or any error messages.

To publish a source table:

  1. Create a Symbol Table filled with the rate values that you wish to share.
  2. Select the top left cell, or the area of the table you wish to publish, including the symbol and field cells.
  3. Select Publish Shared Rates from the RateShare menu.
  4. You will be prompted to select an output cell. This will be the top left cell of the publish table that will be generated. The default position is to the right of the source table, with a gap of one column. The table will overwrite any values in the selected area. Note that the publish table does not have a symbol column.
  5. The publish table should now be automatically generated. A successfully published rate will appear in the new table, otherwise an error will be indicated.

To update a published rate:

  1. Change the value in the source table.
  2. The equivalent rate in the publish table should update to this new value.

Cell formulae can be used for the source table values; any changes to the calculated values will be automatically published. Symbol and fields, however, are not dynamic.

Requesting Rates

To request RateShare data:

  1. Create an empty Symbol Table for the data you require.
  2. Select the top left cell, or the area of the table you wish to fill, including the symbol and field cells.
  3. Select 'Request Shared Rates' from the RateShare menu.
  4. If you have more than one RateShare server available you will be prompted to select one.
  5. The data should be now be available.

The request table is not dynamic: that is if the symbol or field name is changed the rate will not change accordingly. Instead, the table must be requested again.
